About Our Mission

At New Hope Initiative (NHI), we are committed to transforming lives, reducing recidivism, and creating better outcomes for individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. Founded by Chris Johnson, an inmate at Alexander Correctional Institution, and supported by dedicated families of felons, NHI is a Christ-centered organization advocating for meaningful criminal justice reform and the restoration of hope for those affected by incarceration.

Our mission, inspired by Isaiah 61:1, is to proclaim liberty to the captives, bind up the brokenhearted, and offer opportunities for rehabilitation, education, and reintegration into society. We believe that every individual, regardless of their past, deserves a chance to rebuild their life and contribute positively to their communities.

NHI’s innovative programs address the root causes of recidivism by equipping felons with the tools, resources, and mentorship needed for personal transformation. From our “P4 Rehab Project” to the “Homes of Hope” initiative, we aim to empower individuals to overcome barriers, discover their purpose, and build prosperous futures.

Our vision extends beyond the individual to families and communities, recognizing that the challenges faced by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals affect millions of Americans. Through collaboration, advocacy, and faith, we strive to break the cycle of incarceration and reduce the stigma surrounding those who have been convicted.

New Hope Initiative is a revolutionary purpose-driven criminal justice reform organization aimed at offering a comprehensive holistic network of inspirational programs designed to create a safer society in our nation.

  By our focus on the extensive range of individual issues that cause crime, and our earnest concerted attention on the conditions that create the revolving door of  recidivism, we will address and eliminate the root causes that lead to and cultivate a life of crime. 

 Among our many purposes, New Hope's 4 main goals are: 

•Create a positive productive living environment for prisoners conducive to a successful reentry,

•Reestablish and reintegrate all the opportunities and resources needed to effectively assist them in making a genuine transformation,

•Eradicate the most common reasons why an individual is inclined to reoffend,

•Break down the stigma that society holds over felons that says just because they're incarcerated means they have nothing to offer and no !longer deserve a role in the community.

  Our innovative all-encompassing approach, developed by the very people New Hope helps, offers a total and complete restoration in the lives of our clients and their families, instilling hope in their hearts for a better life upon release, as we rectify the issues and injustices that plague all the facets of the US criminal justice system.
